Oesterreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften (OEAW-VID)

OEAW-VID  is one of 28 research institutes within the Austrian Academy of Sciences. It was founded in 1975, enlarged in 2002 and became a collaborating institute in the new Wittgenstein Centre for Demography and Global Human Capital in 2011. OEAW-VID comprises seven research groups: (1) comparative European demography, (2) demography of Austria, (3) population dynamics and forecasting, (4) population economics (5) health, morbidity and mortality, (6) migration and education and (7) human capital data lab. OEAW-VID is one of the few population research centres that undertake comparative European research as part of their core mandate. The Institute's research agenda embraces both methodological and substantive topics. During recent years, European research has focused on population dynamics and forecasts, fertility trends in Europe, family-related decision-making and international migration. Another strength during the last years has been in the field of population economics. In particular several research projects have been conducted on the effect of population and individual ageing on the economy. During the last 3 years the group of Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz has been extensively involved in the NTA project which will be the basis of the current project.
